AI Coding Transformation Lead

AI coding tools are changing how software gets built, but adopting them effectively takes more than giving engineers access to new tools.

At Bonsai Labs, we work directly with product and engineering teams to help them adopt AI-native development practices. We're looking for an experienced engineering leader who is deeply hands-on with AI coding tools and great at helping other engineers use them effectively.

You'll work directly with client teams — coaching engineers, getting into real codebases, and demonstrating how tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex can improve the way software is built.

What you'll do

Train and coach product and engineering teams on adopting AI coding tools and AI-native development practices
Work directly in client codebases to demonstrate effective AI-assisted engineering workflows
Build Claude skills, harnesses, workflows, and reusable tooling
Help teams identify where AI can improve their software development lifecycle
Run hands-on workshops and work alongside engineers on real development challenges
Work with engineering leaders to drive adoption and turn successful experiments into repeatable practices

What we're looking for

Strong software engineering background, ideally with experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, Team Lead, Developer Advocate, or Developer Experience Engineer
Hands-on, regular use of Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar AI coding tools over the last 6 months
Exceptional written and spoken English
Strong communication, coaching, and presentation skills
Comfortable jumping into unfamiliar codebases and working across different technology stacks
Client-facing mindset — you can build trust with both engineers and engineering leadership
Pragmatic and hands-on — you're as comfortable demonstrating how something works as you are explaining it
Based in Europe and available for a fully remote engagement. We offer flexible engagement options depending on your availability: part-time (minimum 25 hours per week) or full-time
